Oh, look!

Another hippie who apparently wasn’t taught about non sequiturs in school!

On March 12, my mother would have been 108. She would have been overjoyed and frightened at the same time.

When George Herbert Walker Bush was running for president the first time, she told me, “Everyone 65 and older is going to be thrown out on the street to starve and die!” I laughed, saying: “Mother, that is silly.”

Today, I’m glad she’s not here. Greg Abbott, Texas’ esteemed attorney general, is going to sue the U.S. government. The Express-News says Texas and 12 other states are questioning the constitutionality of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, etc.

Re: the last paragraph — How could the Express-News print something like that? Those state AGs filed suit over the constitutionality of the health care bill that no one’s read, not of Social Security, Medicaid, etc. And even if they were questioning those programs, how would that have anything to do with seniors being thrown out on the street to starve and die? One wonders what Jeanne Mundorf and/or those who think like her are going to do when there’s no money left to fund those programs.

For at least as long as I’ve given a damn about politics, and saw how FUBAR’d the Democrats were as a national party, they’ve dragged out that same terror tactic evrey time to use against the Republicans cutting back on anything, even if the only “cutting back” was not having everything in the budget get an automatic5 or 10% increase every year, somehow that’s “throwing out seniors and children to starve.” (I’m sure it happened before, but I firsat became aware of it during the “Republican Revolution”, when they won a majority in Congress, you’d think they’d cut every Federal aid program to the bone, by all the wailing and gnashing of teeth the Dems were doing!)

See, this is why I have such a hard time taking liberals seriously. Even though some of them are otherwise intelligent people, when it comes to political issues they disagree with, they tend to jump right off the deep end. Reminds me of an online acquaintance who (along with her husband, apparently) was absolutely convinced that George W Bush would refuse to cede power to the incoming President, instead declaring himself a dictator. I am not making that up. How can I take anyone seriously when they say something so idiotic?

Hmm, around here we call that last paragraph a bald-faced LIE. These lawsuits do not address any of the entitlement programs he listed.

And people wonder why I don’t take the liberal media seriously.

Sabra – I knew people (family members in fact) that were convinced Bush would not hand over the reigns of power without a fight. Interestingly I heard not a peep from them when the transition went as smoothly and peacefully as usual.
