Of all the songs they could have played…

Sabra, Esther (my youngest stepdaughter) and I were at Armadillos for lunch earlier, with the jukebox playing. They had this cd on the jukebox, and someone played a cut from it. Of all the songs they could have played, guess which one they played? (Hint: The only damn CDB song everyone else plays.) I was more than a little nonplussed by that. I didn’t get the chance to, but I should have played “In America” or “The Legend of Wooley Swamp.” Next time I am there, I think I’ll do that…

You forgot to mention the “Pear snaps!” coming from the back seat whilst listening to Deryl Dodd on the way home…

Is Armadillos as good as Chris Madrid’s used to be? Haven’t been there yet.

I like Armadillos. The onion rings are crap, but the mushroom burger is very nice.

Not sure; I’ve never been to Chris Madrid’s. Is it still open? And I don’t remember if I’ve eaten their onion rings, Albatross, but they do have some great burgers, indeed.

Still there but it’s been maybe two years since I had occasion to be in that part of SA. I liked them better than Chester’s and the tostada burger was an interesting occasional change of pace. Onions, cheddar cheese on your burger with refried beans, chips, and salsa, you know, like all cheeseburgers are normally made

I like Armadillos a lot more than I did Little Hipps when it was in the same place. They have a version of the tostada burger there, & it’s good, but I must say I like the variant with Fritos a lot more. And yeah, all cheeseburgers should normally be made that way…

Oh, I didn’t think much of the chili cheese fries. The bacon cheese fries are good, but the chili was kind of bland. They’ve got a good buffalo chicken sandwich, though.

I’m sposed to go to SA next week. Mebbe I’ll check it out? Got to hit Broadway north of the loop, but it’d be a change from our usual meet up spots. See what me old pal says.

Ended up going to La Fogata. Maybe try the dillo next time? It’s in the hat, anyway. Probably have to go back down “south” again in the next couple weeks. Buddy was fixated on the green chicken enchiladas and so we went down good old Vance Jackson. His wife isn’t keen on the place and we are, so since she wasn’t along, well…

Alambre Mixta for me once again. I should really order something else one of these days but I like it…

When I go to the Wimberley Cafe they put in my order as I walk in the door. Dunno if that makes me a bad person. Should try to eat at dillo’s next time though, sounds ok from their menu and reviews.

Shooter friend of mine, we used to go have lunch or breakfast pretty regular before he died, and we’d go to Jim’s and he’d order the same dang thing every time, didn’t matter if it was lunch or breakfast

Anyway, it’s in the lineup for next tim
