Another fun meme!

I stole this from Facebook, since I am a bit short on blogfodder today…
1) Turn on your music player on your computer.

(2) Go to SHUFFLE songs mode.

(3) Write down the first 15 songs that come up–song title and artist–NO editing/cheating, please.

(4) Choose some people to be tagged. It is generally considered to be in good taste to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I’m betting that your musical selection is entertaining, or at least amusing.

To do this, go to “NOTES” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, enter your 15 Shuffle Songs, Tag people (under the post) then click Publish.

1. Grand Funk Railroad, “Some Kind of Wonderful”
2. Alan Jackson, “A Little Bluer Than That”
3. Brian Burns and Larry Joe Taylor, “Third Coast”
4. Van Halen, “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love”
5. Waylon Jennings, “Rainy Day Woman”
6. Iron Maiden, “Flash of the Blade”
7. Queensryche, “Take Hold of the Flame” (recorded live in LaCrosse, WI, 1991)
8. Merle Haggard, “Mama Tried”
9. Megadeth, “Rust in Peace (Polaris)”
10. Rush, “Red Barchetta”
11. Queensryche, “Another Rainy Night”
12. Evanescence, “Lithium”
13. Pantera, “Cowboys From Hell”
14. Lefty Frizzell, “Long Black Veil”
15. Steve Earle, “Hillbilly Highway”

That’s a pretty good snapshot of my tastes these days. Anyone who wants to play, go ahead…

    That’s a nice variety, Pistolero.

Here’s mine (and this is no B.S.):

    1. “Nice ‘n’ Easy” – Frank Sinatra
    2. “Stargazer” – Rainbow
    3. “The Mermaid’s Tears” – Jeff Victor (Celtic music)
    4. “Herr, lehre doch mich” – Johannes Brahms
    5. Symphonie fantastique, Mvt. 2 – Hector Berlioz
    6. “Sabbra Cadabra” – Metallica (a cover of two Black Sabbath songs melded together)
    7. “Alexander the Great” – Iron Maiden
    8. “Knocking at Your Back Door” – Deep Purple
    9. “The Moonshiner” – Black Velvet Band (more Celtic music)
    10. “Can’t Get Enough” – Bad Company
    11. “Parasite” – Anthrax (a cover of a KISS song)
    12. “Ihr habt nun traurigkeit” – Johannes Brahms (wow, I’m surprised he came up twice!)
    13. “Klingon Battle” from Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek music; yes, I’m a geek, too)
    14. “Forever Autumn” – The Moody Blues
    15. “Ein feste burg” – J.S. Bach (this is the organ version)

Very interesting, Albatross. I’ve heard KISS’ version of “Parasite” many times; I’d be interested to hear how Anthrax’s version sounds. Had I kept going I would have come up on that Bad Company song, too. BadCo’s always been a favorite of mine. I would love to have heard more of Free’s music besides “All Right Now,” though…

It sounds a lot like the KISS version. If I can get some time, I might post some samples of my 15 on Painted Ocean.

    Dave (
Lefty Frizzell, “Long Black Veil” I love the version by John Anderson on his Wild and Blue album.

I share very similar musical tastes to yours but if I tried this little shuffle trick, I’m convinced somehow or another the first 15 songs to show up would include the Bee Gees, some Manilow and a bunch of Tejano hits. I can’t admit to stuff like that; not out here on the Internet!

Oh, c’mon Dave, OWN your tastes, dude!

I really liked the original version of “Parasite,” Albatross. KISS has gotten to be another favorite band of mine, in spite of the bad reputation they have with some people. (Dimebag Darrell was buried in a KISS Kasket; that’s gotta be worth something.)
