Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse…

…I saw this.

In light of the controversial acquittal of Casey Anthony, who was accused of killing her adorable 2-year-old daughter Caylee, Rascal Flatts‘ lead singer, Gary LeVox, co-penned a tribute song called ‘She’s Going Places’ to the little girl.

Somebody, anybodytell me how this isn’t blatant exploitation of Caylee Anthony’s fate. Say what you will about Alan Jackson and Toby Keith, but you could argue that they were writing about a tragedy that could have been a prelude to something that would have affected all of us. Surely everyone remembers those frightful days after 9-11, when everyone was wondering, “What next?” And of course there was the speculation of where Flight 93 was headed before the passengers tried to take it back — either the White House or the Capitol. To what extent the American people would have been materially affected had the terrorists crashed the plane into either of those is a matter far beyond the scope of a mere blog post, but there’s little doubt it would have had a huge psychological effect on the vast majority of the population.

Caylee Anthony’s murder, on the other hand, was an extremely local event that — and let’s be honest here — didn’t personally affect anyone beyond her immediate family and the people involved in the case, and perhaps the city she lived in. It was only a national event to the extent the media made it one. And while it’s an uncommon event, kids are still murdered damn near every day in this country. Why a song for Caylee Anthony but no songs for all the others?

I really don’t mean to sound like a heartless bastard, but still I think of something else Tamara wrote:

“If anything, going into spasms of hand-wringing and what-shall-we-do? over the death of someone you never met and never would have met actually strikes me as a little disrespectful to the people who actually were diminished by their death.”

Indeed it is. And all parties involved in the production of this abomination — as well as all the people fawning over it — should hang their heads in shame.

As I said when you first mentioned it to me: Why the hell not just rerecord “Alyssa Lies” and call it a day? Capitalizing on child abuse is frankly disgusting.

Yeah…yeah, it is. I was honestly surprised anyone could sink so low.

If Gary LeVox has a kid, I hope some feller rape murders her for him being such a dildo. I jest, oh wait, that wasn’t in jet. FUCK YOU GARY! Piece of shit. Trading on other people’s misfortunes. You write songs about your life not about trading on sentimentality of other people’s misfortunes…that’s DOGSHIT.

He needs to be kicked to the curb and forced to play Hotel California 100 times a day with a gun pointed at his head for doing what he did.
