So what?

That was my reaction upon reading this:

The Sporting News has released its list of best sports cities and the results are enough to make a bunch of people in Spurs Nation a little peeved.

Big brother Dallas-Fort Worth checks in at No. 1 on the list while San Antonio places at 39th. The Alamo City is placed behind small-market cities like Green Bay, Orlando, Memphis, Columbus and Milwaukee.

I seriously hope the Chamber of Commerce types aren’t losing any sleep over this. San Antonio is a great place to live and work, probably much more so than, say, Columbus, Ohio or Memphis, Tennessee, sports teams be damned. And I’m sure all the folks raising hell about this meaningless list would tell you the same thing after they stopped their bitching. I might be mystified at San Antonio not having an NFL team, but I certainly don’t think the lack of such makes it any less of a great place.

    Dude,

You just don’t know what you are missing not having multiple professional sporting teams in the area — especially like Arlington with TWO pro teams.

Traffic backing up many of the major highways and side streets you normally travel.

People flocking to stores to buy a new jersey (can’t wear the one from last year’s pennant race) every time the team makes the play offs — Geessh, all I wanted to do was buy some ammo.

Tax Dollars going to support the teams, the events the teams through, the parties to support the teams, to direct the traffic for the teams, to change street signs so everyone can find the frakkin stadium –even though it is the tallest building in the WHOLE CITY — (I mean seriously folks, HOW CAN YOU MISS a STARSHIP looking building in the middle of the city??)

Possible riots and definitely drunk drivers after every win and many of the losses in the play offs.

Everyone on every news broadcast being an expert on every sport and team in the area….and willing to share their opinion.

Pistolero, you’ve got to get more teams in your area.
(talk to me about what we can do to move the Mavs, Stars, Rangers, and Cowboys to S.A. — I’ll pitch in 5 or 10 bucks)

ROTFLMAO. You went to Academy, didn’t you?

That whole taxpayer support is something so many people gloss over or never think about, period. We do sympathize with you as far as the street name changes go, though. 😉

It’s not pro, but there’s a lot of people in my part of the state who’d be happy to send you Baylor.

    Seriously, take Baylor.

    Please?
