No. Just no.

…or, You have to be kidding me:

A tearful Anita Perry said Thursday that she and her husband, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, had been “brutalized” by fellow Republicans and the news media, and suggested that the attacks were linked to his Christian faith.

Playing the religion card. That’s almost as bad as playing the race card, especially when you’re a member of the dominant religion in this country. I like Rick Perry and think a lot of the attacks against him are off base, to say the least. But to say Perry’s being attacked because of his Christian faith is just ludicrous. Politics is a dirty business. Attacks are and have been part and parcel of it since time immemorial. And if Anita Perry can’t handle that…well, I hate it for her, and for Rick Perry too, because you know the media is going to have a field day with this.

Yep. And there’s really no reason for the Perry’s not to know this. Once presidential aspirations are even hinted at, they should be prepared for scrutiny the likes of which they have never seen.

    It’s the way of things.
