Assuming the Brits wake up to that, what can they do?

Bob S., commenting on a case from England in which the police dispatcher said an attack in progress warranted a response within the next four hours:

If you hadn’t realized that you are your own first responder, I really hope this helps you understand that.

I don’t know how many British really know that, considering how they’ve been conditioned to call the cops — but assuming they do wake up to that realization one day, what are they going to do? Is their only option going to be shooting the police who come for them after they’ve shot the home invaders? And why do so many people consider such not to be an option?

Look on the bright side – you have to shoot somebody, you’ve got a head start of up to four hours to be somewhere else.

Lousy situation all around, but not a total wash.

I don’t think they will wake up; they’ve been raised to be Eloi for too long to change easily.
