Whoa there, sport.

Kurt Hofmann, quoting Josh Horwitz:

In truth, though, the NRA’s greatest lie is its talking point that gun violence prevention laws in America are a “slippery slope” that will eventually lead to total confiscation of privately held firearms. What an absurdity that is today–43 years after the signing of the 1968 Gun Control Act–as demented individuals like Jared Loughner and Nidal Malik Hasan continue to legally buy guns and carry them in our communities…

Nidal Malik Hasan? As far as I can tell no one has submitted any evidence that he’s actually insane or mentally disturbed. From all I saw about Hasan, he was just your run-of-the-mill extremist in the midst that few really took notice of or said anything about until after the shooting. Furthermore, according to the Associated Press, Hasan’s defense team was considering an insanity defense but backed off the idea after Hasan was evaluated by a military panel.

If you really wanted to give Horwitz the benefit of the doubt I suppose you might say he was just trying to scare you into thinking the NRA wanted Islamic extremists to have guns, but considering Horwitz doesn’t want anyone to have guns, I am left to believe he was just trying to peddle another lie himself. God knows that they’re far from above that sort of thing.

I mean, c’mon! It’s not like Senator Barbara Boxer has ever said out that her goal was to pass a law requiring American gun-owners to “turn ’em all in”! That would be crazy talk.

  2. Crotalus Says:

TBeck, I don’t know if Boxer ever said that or the like, but Feinstein is infamous for saying it.

As faras Horwitz is concerned, you can tell when he’s lying: his lips will be moving.

My first thought when the GCA of 68 was passed was it put the foxes in charge of the hen house and negated the whole of idea of the Second Amendment. Since then we have had numerous “compromises” as the marxists like to call them. All indicating their intentions as blatantly as their speech. Except when they are lying.
During the early seventies, they wanted the police to be “just like England’s” that is, disarmed. You know where that left the law-abiding citizen.

  4. TBeck Says:

Oh, Boxer said it all right. “If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them . . . Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ’em all in, I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren’t here.” February 5, 1995, 60 Minutes.

  5. BobG Says:

Like most gun-grabbers, Horwitz is a liar, since even he isn’t stupid enough to believe propaganda from the Brady Bunch..

  6. southtexaspistolero Says:

Boxer is every bit the gun-banner that Feinstein is, but I will say that everywhere I’ve seen that quote it’s been attributed to Feinstein when she was on 60 Minutes a couple of months after the ’94 elections.
