Another favorite tune, from another favorite band.

I’ve talked a lot about Black Sabbath & Iron Maiden in this space over the last three years or so, but there’s another really great British band that I’ve come to like during that time: Mötorhead. One of the earliest bands in the late ’70s New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, they went on to influence many of the great metal bands of the ’80s, including both Metallica and Megadeth. It’s not hard to hear either, especially with songs like “Ace of Spades” and “Overkill.”

Ironically, though, my favorite song from the band is one of its slower numbers from later on. Written by Mötorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister along with Zakk Wylde and Ozzy Osbourne, “Hellraiser” was released by Ozzy first, in 1991 but it was Mötorhead’s 1992 version that got to be my favorite…

I really dig that song. Both versions.

I actually like both too. Mötorhead’s version is just my favorite. 😉

(Said in my best imitation Slim Pickens voice) “Son, you got to be careful where you’re a puttin’ them umlauts.” ; )
